Warming Winter Beverages With Wellness Benefits

Fresh Mint Tea

No, we’re not talking about the stuff you get from a tea bag. We mean dropping a handful of fresh peppermint leaves into a mug and filling it to the brim with boiling water. If you’ve ever had a pungent meal that left you with equally pungent breath, then we’ll assume that the immediate benefits of an after-dinner cuppa aren’t lost on you. But the nutritional perks of fresh mint tea go far beyond its winter-fresh flavor. Mint tea is often praised for its headache-soothing and digestion-aiding powers, though most studies have examined the benefits of peppermint oil, rather than peppermint tea.

Try: Steeping a handful of fresh peppermint leaves (on or off the stem) in a mug of boiling water. The liquid should take on a nice green hue. Experiment by adding more or less mint to adjust flavor and potency. Try adding lemon, honey, or both!

Multiplier Toddy

You already know and love our Multipliers over ice in a big glass or on the go in a steel bottle. What you may not know? Liquid I.V. Multipliers have alter egos. Come wintertime, your favorite hot-weather refreshers transform into cozy, tea-like treats. Hydration, Energy, and Sleep Multipliers all taste great warmed up! Start your day with a hot mug of Energy, heat up Hydration for an alternative to afternoon tea, and wind down with a steaming cup of Sleep before bed.

Try: Mixing 1 stick of any LIV Multiplier into a mug of hot water. For a Hydration Multiplier Toddy: Combine Lemon Lime with the juice of ¼ lemon (plus a handful of mint leaves if you’re feeling adventurous). For an Energy Multiplier Toddy: Add sliced fresh ginger to taste. For a Sleep Multiplier Toddy: Add 1 teaspoon fresh lavender buds plus 1 teaspoon honey.

Golden Milk

Ever heard of it? If you have, chances are it was in a trendy juice bar, cafe, or health food store. But milk mixed with turmeric (also known as haldi doodh) has been a staple of Ayurvedic medicine for centuries—long before it was co-opted and reimagined by wellness enthusiasts in the West. Turmeric is often celebrated for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. This calming concoction of turmeric, milk (dairy or plant-based), and your choice of spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and/or cardamom, makes for a delicious warm drink any time of day.

Try: This delicately spiced Golden Milk recipe from food coach Jasmine Hemsley (via Goop). For a sweeter and creamier take, try the Hot Turmeric Latte recipe from Bon Appetit

Warm Lemon Water

Sure, lemon water sounds basic when you slot it next to golden milk. But does that make it any less calming to weary minds or soothing to dry throats? Absolutely not. Don’t underestimate the myriad wellness benefits of this warming citrus steamer. Lemon water lovers say it aids digestion and supports weight loss, but we just can’t get enough of it as a refreshing after dinner treat.

Try: Halving a lemon and squeezing the juice into a cup of hot water. For a fuller flavor, try adding a few slivers of lemon peel, and allowing the mixture to steep for several minutes. Stir in a dash of honey if you’re under the weather (or you just have a sweet tooth).

ACV Steamer

Apple cider vinegar, also known as ACV, is often touted as a natural panacea for everything from sore throats to acne, and beyond. This fermented liquid gold has a taste that not everyone will love. But with the right recipe, anyone can enjoy the wellness benefits of apple cider vinegar, without the punch and pucker! A word of warning: ALWAYS dilute before consuming (aim for 10 parts water, one part ACV).

Try: Mixing 1 tablespoon of ACV with 1-2 tablespoons of honey in a large mug of hot water. Experiment by adding cinnamon or a squeeze of lemon. Do what feels right, you’ll know when you’ve found your ideal steamer. Hot tip: This recipe also tastes great with Lemon Lime Hydration Multiplier!

Whether you’re all in on golden milk or strictly Team Mint Tea, hot drinks are the best way to warm up your winter. Keep wellness top of mind even when warm weather feels eons away—you’ll be toasty and feeling great in no time!
