**Liquid I.V. **is an electrolyte drink mix that sends hydration and nutrients directly to your bloodstream using something the brand calls Cellular Transport Technology. Utilizing a combination of sodium, potassium, glucose, and other nutrients, the drink mix hydrates cells faster and more efficiently than water alone.

According to this study, sodium is essential in maintaining homeostasis of fluid within the body and supporting muscle function. Similarly, in Advances in Nutrition, potassium is shown to help regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions, and signals of the nerves.

Finally, the presence of glucose in this product, as supported in this study, is crucial to supporting energy consumption as other proteins and lipids are broken down into glucose to serve as metabolic fuel.

While I’m fascinated by the science, I also enjoy that Liquid I.V. ingredients are all non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free. Apparently, so do others since it boasts 343K followers on Instagram alone. Features in Forbes, USA Today, and OK Magazine certainly draw my interest too, but does it work? And how?
