What We Do And
Why It Matters
We believe that a hydrated world is a better world, and hydration science is how we bring that world closer.
Read on to learn about the facts of hydration, dehydration and how LIV HYDRASCIENCE™ turns ordinary water into extraordinary hydration.
Hydration 101
Feeling thirsty?
Then you may already
Be
Dehydrated*
*Thirst is a common symptom of mild to moderate dehydration
60-70%
Of our body weight is water and yet most Americans only drink about half as much water as recommendED [1][2]
This matters because adequate hydration is essential for maintaining optimal health and physiological function, including blood pressure, body temperature regulation, digestion, cognition, and energy levels. It’s even been associated with sleep quality.

Sign Of
Dehydration
Dehydration can show up in all kinds of ways. The following are Potential symptoms of mild to moderate dehydration:
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Brain Fog
- Dry Mouth
- Fatigue
- Weakness
- Irritation
- Dark Yellow Pee
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, please seek medical advice
Effects Of
Dehydration
Effects Of
Dehydration
1-2%
Dehydration resulting in loss of body mass of 1-2% or more can result in impaired cognitive function, mood and aerobic performance.[3]
Aerobic exercise can be things like:
- Jogging
- Cycling
- Swimming
3-5%
Dehydration resulting in loss of body mass of 3-5% can lead to a decrease in sport specific skills, anaerobic exercise and cool weather performance.[3]
Anaerobic exercise can be things like:
- Weightlifting
- Sprinting
- HIIT
Just Add Science
Creating a Forumula To Get More From Your Water
We love water (it’s a phenomenal hydrator), but sometimes water alone isn’t enough.

Our bodies need electrolytes like sodium, potassium, magnesium and other essential vitamins for things like:
Supporting normal muscle contraction
Regulating blood pressure and heart rate
Overall cell function
Electrolytes can be lost through sweat, but rehydrating with water alone won’t replace them.
That's where our science comes in.

Our Secret Sauce
Hydration Occurs In04 Stages
Unlike some other hydration brands, every Liquid I.V.® product is formulated to support all of them.
01
Intake
The first step to hydration is drinking hydrating fluids (like water). Liquid I.V.®’s sensory scientists work hard to make our flavors taste chuggable, because the more you enjoy them, the more you’ll drink.

02
Absorption
Hydration Multiplier®
One way water is absorbed is by passing through the wall of the gut and into the body. As well as tasting great (refer to Stage 1!), the sugar in Hydration Multiplier® actively helps speed up this absorption process, so you can hydrate faster.
Hydration Multiplier® Sugar-Free
So until now, fast hydration had always needed sugar. But you wanted faster, sugar-free hydration so… we scienced it. In a total baller move, Liquid I.V.® developed an amino acid-allulose blend backed by award-winning science that doesn't just sweeten, but also supports faster hydration than water alone—something that had previously not been demonstrated for sugar-free hydration beverages. This innovation is proprietary (so no one else can copy it), it's a breakthrough for hydration science, and it’s very, very cool—if we say so ourselves.
03
Retention
If the first two stages are about getting water into the body, this one is about keeping it there. And it’s where those famous electrolytes come in! The sodium (salt) in Liquid I.V.® formulas helps the body retain fluids so you stay hydrated for longer.

04
Distribution
Another role for the electrolytes
Here, LIV HYDRASCIENCE™ uses sodium and potassium to help you maintain the right balance of liquid inside and outside your cells, which is part of keeping your body hydrated.

And that’s LIV HYDRASCIENCE™, baby!
